ADA Q&A Covers Impact of the No Surprises Act

Feb 3, 2022
The ADA received questions from members about the No Surprises Act, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2022, and its implications for dental practices.

The ADA received questions from members about the No Surprises Act, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2022, and its implications for dental practices, so it released a Q&A based on what it knows as of Dec. 9, ADA News reported. The No Surprises Act, included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, provides billing protections for patients who receive emergency care, nonemergency care from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities and air ambulance services from out-of-network providers. It does not affect dentists for the most part, because dental benefits fall under "excepted benefits," and it does not affect private dental practices. The ADA will provide more information as it becomes available.
