Attention Employer Dentists: Opportunity to Offset Benefit Charges

Jul 23, 2020
Taxable employers will soon be able to submit an application to offset their benefit charges from the first two quarters of 2020, which might reduce their 2021 tax rate.

Earlier this year, the Legislature allocated $25 million to the COVID-19 Unemployment Account to help pay off experience rate changes for taxable employers (those who pay unemployment taxes) in Washington state.

Taxable employers will soon be able to submit an application to offset their benefit charges from the first two quarters of 2020, which might reduce their 2021 tax rate. The application deadline is Sept. 30, 2020. Please note that the application has not yet been released — the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) will send a notice to all taxable employers as soon as it becomes available.

While the application is not yet available, please review the information provided by ESD to ensure that you are prepared to apply.
