Installation of Officers & Member Recognition Meeting
Featuring WSDA President Dr. Denny Bradshaw

Tuesday, April  27, 2021 Ÿ Ÿ 6:00 - 9:00 PMŸ Ÿ 2 CE credits

Special Thanks to our Sponsor: Omni Practice Group

We live in extraordinary times and the role of organized dentistry is more important than ever before.  Unity as a profession is vital as we navigate the influence of       government and the insurance industry upon the practice of dentistry.  Dr. Bradshaw will share up-dates on what is happening legislatively, as well as what the WSDA is doing regarding the pandemic, and the status of the Delta Dental law suite that was settled in 2020. Additionally, we will honor our Life Members and our newest elected Society Officers.  Join us for a virtual celebration of organized dentistry!

About Our Presenter: Dr. Denny Bradshaw is an active restorative dentist with a practice in Pasco, Washington.  He originally went into practice with his father, with whom he worked alongside for 23 years before the elder Dr. Bradshaw retired. Dr. Bradshaw attended Loma Linda University for his dental training where, like today, he was very involved in leadership. In addition to his 6 years on the WSDA Board of Directors, Dr. Bradshaw has been working to plan and manage the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference for more than 10 years. Amidst these challenging times, Dr. Bradshaw has taken the role of WSDA President for an unprecedented second term.

EVENTS

  • Donaldson - Session 2: “We Can Do Better Than The White-Knuckle Technique!” - Pharmacology 0f Oral Sedatives

    Tue, Mar 09, 2021 | 6:00 PM - Tue, Mar 09, 2021 | 8:00 PM
This is a foundational course for all oral healthcare providers to become a better prescribers and a better clinicians in helping dental patients relax. The goal of understanding the different oral medications for inoffice adult minimal sedation will help providers in applying the right drug at the right dose for the right procedure. The tools and protocols presented will help set you up for success with this very large, and growing, population of patients in whom dental fear is one of their greatest challenges.
  • Importance of Study Clubs and what They Can Do for Your Career

    Tue, Mar 16, 2021 | 6:30 PM - Tue, Mar 16, 2021 | 8:30 PM
We all know that learning does not and should not stop with dental school graduation. "Lifelong student" is an understatement, as most of us spend our entire careers on a journey of learning and exploration. And one of the most valuable resources that we have available to us is the opportunity to join a study club. Not only does it set us on a pathway of learning, growing, and improving as practitioners, but it facilitates a close-knit network of peers and colleagues who care about you and who want to see you succeed.
  • Donaldson - Session 3: Nitrous Oxide and Dental Personnel Concerns: Contamination & Scavenging

    Tue, Mar 23, 2021 | 6:00 PM - Tue, Mar 23, 2021 | 8:00 PM
Nitrous oxide – oxygen inhalation sedation continues to be the safest modality dentists have in providing in office sedation. As the late Dr. John Yageila is often quoted, “there has never been a death in a dental office, while dentistry is being done and nitrous oxide is the sole sedative being used.” Unfortunately, while we know the drug is safe in the episodic care of patients, some dental staff continue to be erroneously informed that they could suffer health risks from chronic, occupational exposure. This evidence-based program debunks that myth.
  • Donaldson - Session 4: What Needs to Be in Your Medical Emergency Kit and Why

    Tue, Mar 30, 2021 | 6:00 PM - Tue, Mar 30, 2021 | 8:00 PM
Although uncommon, medical emergencies in the dental setting can range from non-life-threatening conditions to fatal situations and oral healthcare professionals (OHCPs) must be capable of recognizing and managing them appropriately. Since patient safety is always our primary concern, this program reviews the proper use and delivery of the essential emergency medications included in a basic drug emergency kit which should be available in every dental office.

Fit Testing for PPE is Underway!

SKCDS in partnership with WSDA, has gathered, and trained, a group of volunteers to provide Fit Tests to King County dental offices. This service is FREE to members. For non-members, we request a donation of $100, per office, to purchase supplies so the program may continue. To schedule a fit test for your office, go to the "Members Login" Drop Down Tab - select "Resources", there members will find a list of volunteers. Contact 1-2 volunteers located geographically closest to your office. Volunteers will schedule their own testing visits based upon availability. Non-member dental offices can contact SKCDS to make a donation and gain access to the names of Fit Test volunteers. We ask that dental offices coordinate with their Fit Test volunteers to mitigate risks. Depending on the number of people needing to be fit tested, the test fit process takes about 1 hour to complete. For more information or if a non-member dentist, please contact Sandra at sandra@skcds.com or call 206-448-6620.
