Response to Disturbing Mail Sent to Dental Professionals:

On March 11th, 2025, SKCDS was made aware of the recent reports involving disturbing correspondence that have been sent to dental professionals in our communities. These letters, which promote harmful actions, have understandably caused significant distress within our dental professional community as well as those who have received them.

It is our sincere intention to stand with our dental professionals and express our unwavering support.  Our hope is that the individual(s) responsible are found and held accountable and that they receive the care and resources that appear to be (potentially) needed.

To Our Dental Communities:

Please be cautious of any mail you receive where the sender or location being sent from is unfamiliar or unexpected.  Any threatening correspondence, or correspondence that promote self-harm, should be reported to local police immediately. It is further advised that any recipients should handle this mail minimally.

We encourage all Dentists, Dental Professionals, and Dental Support Staff (clinical, administrative, etc.) to lean into your support networks and professional communities. It is crucial that we continue to foster support and connection during challenging times. Our relationships provide invaluable resources and a sense of belonging that can help navigate personal and professional obstacles, including disturbing and harmful words.

This further reminds us to prioritize mental health as a component of our overall well-being. Please take time to evaluate proactive steps you can take to care for yourself.  Our mental health ensure we remain resilient and equipped for the various challenges life often throws our way.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, please reach out to the Suicide Crisis Hotline for immediate support. The contact below accepts both phone calls and text messages, additionally, you can reach out via the Regional Crisis Line.

DQAC Public Member Vacancy

Jul 7, 2022
The Department of Health, Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA), is accepting applications through Aug. 5 to fill one public member vacancy on the Dental Quality Assurance Commission (DQAC).

The Department of Health, Health Systems Quality Assurance (HSQA), is accepting applications to fill vacancies on the Dental Quality Assurance Commission (commission). This recruitment will be used to fill one public member vacancy.

HSQA is looking for public-spirited people willing to study the issues and to make decisions in the public’s best interest. Health profession boards, commissions, and committees operate under legislative mandate to:

  • Protect the health and safety of the public, and
  • Promote the welfare of the state by regulating the competency and quality of health care providers under their authority.

The Governor’s Office and the Department of Health seek diversity in board and commission members. They recognize the value variety brings in understanding and serving the people of Washington State. They need candidates with diverse backgrounds and those who provide geographic representation throughout the state.

To qualify for the public member position on the commission, an individual may not be a member of any other health care licensing board or commission, or have a fiduciary obligation to a facility rendering health services regulated by the commission, or have a material or financial interest in the rendering of health services regulated by the commission. Public members may not hold a dental related health care credential. Members must be citizens of the United States and residents of Washington State.

If you are interested in applying for an appointment to the commission, please complete the application online here. On the application, please select that you are applying for the Dental Quality Assurance Commission. Applications, along with a current resume must be submitted by August 5, 2022.

Additional information about the commission is available on the DOH web page.
