Course Description
Dental sleep medicine can feel complicated when viewed as an entirely separate discipline from general dentistry. In reality, many of the patients who could benefit from screening and further evaluation are already sitting in our chairs every day.
This course provides a practical framework for incorporating sleep, airway, and related TMJ/occlusal considerations into an existing general dental practice without unnecessarily disrupting clinical workflows. We will discuss how the dental team can recognize common signs and symptoms, initiate productive conversations with patients, document findings, coordinate appropriately with medical providers, and develop repeatable referral and treatment pathways.
The emphasis will be on practical implementation: what belongs in the general dental office, when collaboration or referral is appropriate, and how to build systems that allow the entire dental team to participate. Attendees should leave with a clearer understanding of how dental sleep medicine can become a natural extension of comprehensive general dentistry rather than an isolated service line.
